Clinical indications for bone densitometry

HOLOGIC QDR 4500 ELITE ACCLAIM Series Bone Densitometer with a low- dose of X-ray radiation has been introduced in the Densitometry Service of MC Erebouni. Densitometry is the only diagnostic method that allows you to accurately determine the bone mineral density, which is necessary for the prevention of osteoporosis, early diagnosis, as well as the effectiveness of anti-osteoporosis treatment. Indications for densitometry are: early menopause: bone fractures under 45 years of age caused by minor trauma, prolonged use of corticosteroids, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperparathyroidism, prolonged immobility, malabsorption syndrome, chronic liver disease, hereditary factor, diabetes, unexplained growth loss of more than 3 cm, tobacco and alcohol abuse.
