In MC Erebouni, more than 90% of interventions have performed within the framework of the state-funded program on stroke treatment.

From 1 February to now, 159 patients were admitted to MC Erebouni under state-funded Stroke Program. Within the framework of the state order 98 patients underwent thrombolysis - drug-induced thrombosis, 19 thrombectomy- intravascular surgery for removing a blood clot (thrombus) from a blood vessel. In addition, there were cases when it was necessary to perform several interventions simultaneously. And 31 patients underwent thrombolysis and thrombectomy.11 patients underwent thrombolysis and cerebral angiography at the same time. Thus, MC Erebouni has performed more than 90% of all the interventions within the framework of the state-funded program on treatment of ischemic stroke. MC Erebouni has been preparing for a long time in order to achieve such targets. For more than 10 years the relationship with the world's best stroke centers, and especially with Armenian specialists has created conditions that allow us to keep pace with both technical and professional qualities. Over the years, our Armenian doctors Michael Scon, Vigen Babikyan and Mikayel Grigoryan have been in constant contact with the management of MC Erebouni and, together, step by step introduced the possibilities of stroke treatment, developed guidelines for treatment. Once again, visiting MC Erebouni, they see a qualitatively different Stroke Center.Armenian neurologists from all over the world summed up the results of cooperation in recent years with General Director of MC Erebouni Professor Harutyun Kushkyan, expressed their gratitude for responding to their suggestions and implementing high-level programs. In order to improve the work of Stroke Center, it was decided to deepen cooperation by introducing the world's leading experience in MC Erebouni. Professor Harutyun Kushkyan, welcoming his longtime friends, assured that all the necessary conditions would be created for that purpose. Neurologists visiting Armenia to participate in the Armenian Doctors Congress discussed with the Armenian colleagues the problems in treatment of the stroke, as well as the results of the State-funded Program on treatment of Stroke launched from February 1. Stroke team Helpline works 24/7. Right after calling by number 044 300 800 the doctors are ready to admit another patient with ischemic stroke. If the brain of the patient is still viable, and it is possible to save cerebral tissue, thrombolysis is performed- the dissolution of a blood clot using medication or thrombectomy- removing a blood clot (thrombus) from a blood vessel. Two interventions are done together. The effectiveness of treatment depends on time. The longer the first symptoms of the stroke, the less effective the treatment, and complications are possible. As soon as the symptoms of the stroke occur, it is advisable to go to stroke center without delay to receive the necessary treatment. MC Erebouni has all the opportunities to implement all this. Special conditions have been created for patients diagnosed with stroke: to take the patients out of turn, examine and carry out necessary procedures. CT and MRI work 24 hours a day. It enables to reveal the presence of clot with a specially designed stroke program within a few minutes. MC Erebouni is the only center in Armenia, which has an elective coronary angiography, that enables to get the image in 2 projections at the same time. After the necessary examinations and interventions at an acute stage of stroke, the patients are transferred to a special, neurointensive care unit. The last link to the stroke treatment chain is a rehabilitation service in order to completely overcome this disability-related disease. From February to now, 124 lives have been saved in MC Erebouni. Most of them were discharged without sitting on a wheelchair, without serious disability, with minimal neurological changes.
