A well-known French otorhinolaryngologist of Armenian origin, Dr. Eghia Karapetyan, together with his Armenian colleagues of MC Erebouni and MC Nairi, performed twelve surgeries in five days. During the war, most of the soldiers were injured by explosive weapons to the eardrum, which led to partial or complete hearing loss. Specialists of MC Erebouni perform these surgeries to repair the eardrum (tympanic membrane). For Professor of Necker Hospital in Paris, Eghia Karapetyan, MC Erebouni is a native place, as well as through his efforts, ENT Department was opened about thirty years ago. It all started in 1991, when a French doctor of Armenian origin, Eghia Karapetyan, first came to his homeland. After the earthquake, there was a serious need for medical care in Armenia. Thanks to the efforts of Charles Aznavour Foundation, not only medical equipment was sent from France to Armenia, but also a large number of French Armenian doctors helped their colleagues with professional skills. Dr. Gevorg Abgaryan, founder of the Union of Armenian doctors of France, UMAF, and Dr. Eghia-Noel Karapetyan were among the first to arrive in Yerevan. Since that time, their friendship with Harutyun Kushkyan began. The groundwork of new projects was laid, and many ambitious programs were implemented in the healthcare system. One of them was the opening of new ENT department in MC Erebouni. The new department was replenished with the necessary medical equipment, the first surgeries were performed. The Department was established in difficult years for Armenia, becoming a reference point for many other departments. For 30 years, Professor Eghia Karapetyan together with the head ENT Department of MC Erebouni Professor Arthur Shukuryan has been performing complex surgeries, helping with his experience, contributing to the work on equipping the latest equipment, using innovative methods of leading countries. After the war, the doctor could not help but come to Armenia, he realized that wounded soldiers were waiting for him. Since the beginning of the war, several dozen of similar surgeries have been carried out in the Department. For our doctors, the presence of a French- Armenian colleague in the operating room is always important. Besides surgeries, the world-famous doctor always informs his Armenian colleagues of the latest news in the field of medicine, helps with technical equipment. During the annual conferences, Eghia Karapetyan presents the latest approaches in this field to Armenian specialists, helping them to keep up with the doctors of the best clinics.
