On November 10, 2017 in conference hall of “ ELIT PLAZA” the conference organized by Cardiology Center of MC Erebouni with the support of the pharmaceutical company SANOFI was held.The theme of the Conference: “Acute coronary syndrome and arrhythmias. Topical issues”.
With an opening speech Head of Cardiology Department of Erebouni MC, The Chief Cardiologist of the Ministry of Health of RA, Professor Hamlet Hayrapetyan , MD addressed to the audience .
“ In light of the rapid development in medical science and technology, the development of new methods of treatment and medicines, international recommendations for the treatment of acute coronary syndrome and atrial fibrillation have been revised in recent years. In particular, antithrombotic agents are an essential component of therapy for patients with acute coronary syndrome, especially in patients with coronary artery stenting. However, these patients often have complications and side effects during antithrombotic therapy. To avoid such situations and, at the same time, to achieve maximum effectiveness, it is necessary to objectively assess the risks of bleeding and thrombosis. This Conference is dedicated to these actual issues “,- noted Prof. Hamlet Hayrapetyan.

“ Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of arrhythmia worldwide, and Armenia is not an exception. About 20-30% of all strokes are due to undiagnosed episodes of atrial fibrillation.
We often discuss ablation of atrial fibrillation, and forget that a certain portion of patients need optimal conservative therapy.
At the Conference , we decided to discuss range of issues related to antiarrhythmic drugs used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation according to European recommendations published in 2016.

The choice of antiarrhythmic drugs in a particular case can be very difficult, taking into account the frequent side effects and low efficiency of individual drugs. At the same time, nowdays, there are recommendations , that , in some way, facilitate the work of the doctor and allow you to make decisions on the proposed algorithm both in individual case in the choice of medicine and in the choice of the dose”,- said the Head of Arrhythmology Department Mihran Martirosyan.
