The last patients with COVID-19 are discharged from Erebоuni MC after 6 months of struggle. Medical Center has been prepared since the beginning of the year, taking into account the current situation in the world. The first steps were aimed at preventing infection, awareness of medical professionals, and implementing international treatment guidelines. Since January, by order of the Executive Director of MC Erebouni Mikael Manukyan, vigilance has been increased in relation to patients with all respiratory diseases. Increased control was established especially in the Maternity Clinic, as well as in all departments of the Medical Center. The hospital stopped allowing visitors, and guidelines from the Ministry of Health were introduced. Large-scale disinfection works were constantly carried out. With special detergents, the entire center, as well as the Bank and entrances were disinfected several times a day. Temperature checks of every citizen entering the medical center has become mandatory, in case of having a fever, further medical examination has been organized. According to the letter of the Ministry of Health of Armenia dated March 27, by order of the Executive Director of MC Erebouni Mikael Manukyan, 10% of the bed fund was allocated exclusively for providing medical care to covid-patients. In the Cardiopulmonary Pathology Department, observation departments were allocated, which were supplemented with all necessary accessories, and an individual oxygen supply point was installed at each bed. On March 30, the first patient with Covid-19 was diagnosed in MC Erebouni, who have recovered from an extremely serious condition and been discharged. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 797 patients have been served so far. The daily work rhythm of the center has changed, it has been brought into line with the generally accepted principles of fighting the epidemic. The heads of all departments daily provided information on the patients with various problems, at the same time with a suspected Covid-19. All hospitalized patients were taken samples. A total of 2,784 samples were taken at MC Erebouni. Admission Department also worked in a special mode. Here all patients are registered, primary medical examination, and diagnosis are carried out. The radiology center was also overloaded with work. From the beginning of the epidemic to the present day extensive X- ray examinations of the lungs and CT have been performed here as an early diagnostic exam of pneumonia with Covid -19. Based on the CT-findings Covid-19 infection was diagnosed in 3,500 patients. Another 10% of the bed fund allocated for the treatment of Covid-19 was given for the treatment of patients in need of ICU. As part of the fight against Covid-19, a new intensive care unit was opened in MC Erebouni. As an important condition, the Department was provided with artificial respiration devices from DRAGER company. The Department has introduced a method of ultrasound diagnostics of the lungs, which provides dynamic control of patients with Covid- 19. International standards and protocols have been applied for the treatment of severe and extremely severe patients. The Maternity Clinic has switched to a special working mode by strengthening security measures several times. No visitors/ relatives are permitted to Clinic. Thus, infection was prevented, ensuring the safety of pregnant women, women in labor and newborns. In parallel with all this, MC Erebouni, being one of the largest multidisciplinary medical centers in the Republic, continued its work in diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical, cardiological and other departments, and continuously ensured the continuation of such important state programs as heart stenting, ischemic stroke, control and management of malignant neoplasms, and sanaviation. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 2501 children have been born in the Maternity Clinic of MC Erebouni. MC Erebouni no longer serves patients with COVID-19 and is starting its daily work rhythm. For this reason, special disinfection and sanitary cleaning works are carried out throughout the center. Hospital entrances, reception, corridors, waiting rooms, diagnostic equipment, floors, departments, wards are cleaned. All this is aimed at creating the safest possible environment, while continuing to provide high-quality medical services to the population.
