Laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery is considered the most innovative method and has a number of advantages. Laparoscopic surgeries on the abdominal cavity and pelvic organs are performed without a traditional incision, using the latest technologies with a lower probability of bleeding, with a low probability of postoperative complications, with a short hospitalization period (1-2 days). At the same time, laparoscopic surgery requires high skills and professionalism of the surgeon and experience with medical equipment for performing such surgeries.The Department of General and Laparoscopic Surgery of MC Erebouni was founded in 1993.

The following laparoscopic surgeries are performed in the department.

• laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair with open access and/or laparoscopic techniques
• laparoscopic liver surgery
• laparoscopic procedures in the case of liver abscesses
• nissen fundoplication (in hernia of the diaphragm)

• adrenalectomy
• laparoscopic dissection of adhesions (in bowel obstruction)
• stitching of perforation of stomach and/or duodenal ulcer with open access or laparoscopic techniques

Laparoscopic access allows the surgeon to perform several surgeries on the abdominal organs at the same time if there are appropriate indications.Almost all laparoscopic surgeries in the department are performed under general anesthesia. During the surgery, the abdominal cavity is filled with CO2 gas to improve visibility, then a camera is installed through a small incision, allowing you to see the abdominal cavity on the screen. These surgeries can be performed on patients of all ages.The department is equipped with the latest equipment.
